I attended a dog sport exposition this weekend so I tried to capture some shots there of trainers in context with their dogs, but out of the fifty images none of them really worked.
I tried to illustrate how the framing of the image makes a difference in the overall shot. I found a spot with beautiful natural light for these shots. I really liked how the light worked in these.
EDIT:
I think Jason brought up a good point about enhancing the photos by exploring and altering them further. This is a result of the first photo being manipulated. It is still mostly washed out, but I feel like it looks more like it's supposed to be. This was done with B&W layer filters and a color balance masked to the eyes.

Hey I know her. I like the first photo because you can see so much detail and color on one side of her face and the other side is almost washed out because of the light but for me you can picture what it looks like from see the other side that has all the detail.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, thank you for posting a link. I am not sure why that is so hard for people...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really like the second one. It is really lovely in it's simplicity. Did you edit it or did it just come out that way? It would be a really lovely Facebook cover photo for the subject. I like it!
I really like the lighting on these as well, the eyes had a way of coming out against the softer colors on the first photo.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, they both look a bit washed out. I know that's what you were going for, but the first one lost a lot of detail on the left side. The second one works very nicely. I can't help but wonder how they would look converted to black and white.

I think playing with the exposure in PS could yield some interesting results. Im going to play around with these a little later and see what I get. Good observations!
ReplyDeleteThese are fine photos. I often like to take over-exposed photos because I really like the way the space feels, but every time I do, I wish the image was a bit more under. I have come to the conclusion that it is better to take the photos with the proper exposure and add the over exposure in post production. This way you have much more control over the level of detail. These are both beautiful images and the model looks very relaxed and comfortable.
