Week 5 - Assignment 3: Framing

  1. I think there is a typo on your title page since the month is listed as May instead of June.

There are some very interesting pictures here, although I don't know that all of them incorporate framing--at least not as I understand it. There are the beginnings of something very interesting with the opening door photo because it leaves me wondering what will be on the other side. I am rather partial to your third image, though, where there is a branch in focus coming into frame from the left and there are more distant trees on the right which are out of focus within the frame. It makes me think of the phrase about seeing the forest through the trees.

  2. Good catch on the title slide, Composition is also spelled incorrectly. Picasa was giving me a hard time.

I went by the assigned readings in regards to framing. They included, but were not limited to: providing context, leading the viewer's eye, creating depth through layering, and making the viewer think about whats going on. I appreciate your comment though, I will republish add captions to clarify which concepts I was attempting to illustrate!

  3. Picasa gave me a hard time as well. I really like the leading photo of the deck rail and the framing of door after door. You always come up with such creative ways to showcase the topic. I agree with Jen on the photo of the close up branch and the mountain in the back ground - made me want to walk past the tree to see clearly what was beyond.
